Every creative art deserves the best of settings – a space where magic comes to life, performers can express their passion and audiences are moved and inspired. Youghal is fortunate and proud to have two outstanding and nationally recognised musical venues – St Mary’s Collegiate Church and The Mall Arts Centre. Both fine spaces play host to diverse creative arts and are perfect backdrops to concerts across all genres and stunning classical recitals.

St Mary’s Collegiate Church

St Mary’s Collegiate Church is one of the most beautiful and important medieval buildings in Ireland. Since its foundation in the 13th century, the Church has been the beating heart of Youghal – and music has always been its rhythm. 

Renowned for its magnificent architecture, 13th century oak roof structure and its fascinating plaques and effigies – St Mary’s is the perfect visual backdrop and offers excellent acoustics for unforgettable musical events.

The venue has played host to various events during the annual Blackwater Valley Opera Festival and well-known artists who have performed there include: The Celtic Tenors, Frances Black, Jack L, Mike Denver & Band, Tom Dunne (Something Happens), Liam Ó Maonlaí (Hot House Flowers) and Mundy.

The Space

St Mary’s Church is a 250-seater venue with a mobile stage which can be specifically constructed to suit individual preferences. The Church is happy to accommodate your bespoke requirements and requests as far as possible.

The Church also features a private room (the vestry), which artists can use before and during a performance.

The Mall Arts Centre

The Mall Arts Centre is space perfection for all performing arts – and is available for day or evening hire.

Beautifully positioned on Youghal Bay, the 230-year-old centre is both practical and inspiring. The first-floor performance area has been completely renovated as a multi-purpose theatre and arts venue, and both stage and performance areas are flexible to accommodate any event, including theatre performance and dance. 

The venue has played host to many choral and musical societies, comedians including Pat and Faye Short, John Spillane, The Solas Quartet and the First Cut Film Festival.

The Spaces

The Annex is a stunning and striking space with a seafront-situated glass foyer and magnificent views of Youghal Bay. The foyer seats up to 30 people and links the building with an outside terrace area and seating. The Annex also makes an ideal ‘before and after’ performance conversation area.

The Auditorium seats up to 170 people and offers superb acoustics and lighting options for premium performances.

5.6 meters wide x 4.2 meters deep, 1.5 meter on either side of the stage behind the curtain and 1 metre from floor.
