The Olympia Quartet presents Fanny Mendelssohn’s gorgeous E flat major quartet alongside Shostakovich’s heart-breaking eighth quartet, lamenting the futility of war. The Meliora Quartet plays one of the greats of the classical repertoire, Beethoven’s second ‘Rasoumovsky’ quartet. Famed particularly for its beautiful, meditative slow movement, this quartet is also spectacularly virtuosic and will bring the concert to a rousing conclusion.
