Fiona Kennedy presents Natural Woman
March 6 @ 12:00 am

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Fiona Kennedy, a well-loved figure in Irish music for over three decades, is set to captivate audiences with her bold new theatrical production, Natural Woman. Running for one night only in The Mall Arts Centre Youghal, this innovative show marks a departure from Kennedy’s traditional musical performances, blending original songs with evocative readings, poetry, storytelling, and stunning visual projections. Natural Woman sold out its initial run at the Cork Arts Theatre & had a highly successful run in The Briery Gap Macroom among other venues with excellent reviews.
“Fiona Kennedy is a gifted songwriter… an exceptional show.” Clodagh Finn. Irish Examiner
Natural Woman is a deeply personal and artistically rich exploration of the women who have shaped Kennedy’s life and creative journey. Inspired by figures that include legendary travel writer Dervla Murphy, champion of the homeless Caitriona Twomey, campaigner Vicky Phelan, activist Mary Crilly and others, the show celebrates courage, resilience, and the quiet heroism of everyday women. With readings performed by Cork author Ethel Crowley & Kennedys superb band onstage too, Natural Woman offers an experience that is both thought-provoking and emotionally uplifting.
“This is the most creatively daring project I’ve ever undertaken,” says Fiona. “It’s a celebration of the women who’ve inspired me—some famous, some quietly extraordinary—and I hope audiences leave feeling moved, empowered, and reminded of the hope that surrounds us. I’m also very excited to announce that I’ll be releasing an album of the songs from the show soon” she adds.
Kennedy’s signature warmth and unique voice anchor the performance, while the integration of visual storytelling elevates the show into a truly immersive experience. Audiences can expect a tapestry of music and narrative that transcends genre and format, offering a fresh perspective on the power of female influence.
Having previously supported icons like Kris Kristofferson, and with accolades including an IRMA Award nomination and her own one-hour RTÉ TV special, Kennedy brings a wealth of experience and authenticity to the stage…audiences at The Mall Arts Centre Youghal are in for a treat!
